From Bottleneck to Blueprint: How a US Government Organisation Transformed Their Ivanti Data Archive with Precision Bridge

A US Government Organisation's on-premise Ivanti Neurons application had grown to a scale that prevented routine metadata migrations to lower environments, a process the team depended on for standard system maintenance. To resolve this, the team initiated a project to archive over 63 million rows into a separate SQL database, with users retaining access to historical data through a Power BI reporting dashboard. Precision Bridge's Data Migration Automation Solution was selected on the recommendation of their third-party Ivanti implementation partner.

Project Challenges

  • Direct database-to-database migration at the SQL layer, without use of the Ivanti API

  • Preserving complex multi-level record hierarchies across a large number of related tables

  • Selectively archiving records from specific date ranges while maintaining full relational integrity

  • Retaining workflow and audit table data to support future compliance and reporting requirements

Delivering the Solution

The US Government Organisation's internal IT team directed the configuration and delivery using Precision Bridge's Data Migration Automation Solution, mapping the full record hierarchy across incidents, service requests, child tasks, journal notes, notifications, emails, self-service view tables, workflows, and audit records. Once the housekeeping rules and initial mapping logic were established, the team replicated and refined them across different record types and date ranges, accelerating each subsequent phase. Throughout the project, Precision Bridge provided support to assist with specific requirements, with rapid response times and no impact on project progress.

The project produced a complete and validated archive with full relational integrity preserved, integrated with a Power BI dashboard for ongoing reporting. The active Ivanti database was restored to a size that again supported the team's standard maintenance processes. By automating the extraction and preservation of complex record hierarchies, Precision Bridge's Data Migration Automation Solution reduced what would have required multiple resources over six months to a year into a project completed by a single team member. With a planned future transition to ServiceNow, the organisation's team also noted the value of having an established, proven migration capability already in place.

"It was some of the best support I've ever had from any third-party partner or application developer. The speed of response and the willingness to tailor the solution to our specific requirements was highly valuable."— Project Manager, US Government Organisation.
